BONUS MOVIE REVIEW: Here is yet another bonus movie this month entitled “Jack the Giant Slayer” that stars Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies), Ian McShane (Kung Fu Panda, Hot Rod), Ewan McGregor (the Star Wars prequel trilogy), and Eleanor Tomlinson (The Illusionist, Alice in Wonderland). It is based off of the fairytale “Jack and the Beanstalk” with a twist. Long ago magic beans were placed in the ground to make a giant beanstalk that grew up to the clouds in the sky. When the giants above discovered this beanstalk, they came down to Earth and started killing every living being. To stop them, they made a crown made of a giant’s heart mixed in with magic, that when put on, whatever you say the giants will obey. King Erik got the crown and told all giants to go back where they came from. When they got back, the king ordered everyone to chop down the beanstalk so that the giants will never again come back down to Earth. Then many years later, a monk gives a farm boy named Jack (Hoult) some of those magic beans to take them away from the kingdom to a secret place so they couldn’t be used for evil. At home, the princess of the nearby kingdom (Tomlinson), comes knocking at his door to tell him thanks for something he did and one of the beans accidentally got in water and turned into a beanstalk taking Jack’s house and the princess with it. Now with the help of a knight (McGregor) and other helpers, Jack has to go save the princess and bring her back to her father the king (McShane). I really liked this movie for the acting, action, and the twist of the story. I would recommend this to any action/fairytale fan. FINAL SCORE: 86%= Juicy Popcorn
