“The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”

SATURDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: I couldn’t watch a movie Friday night because of the line at the redbox so last night I got to see the movie I really wanted to see called “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” which stars Steve Carell (Evan Almighty, The Office), Steve Buscemi (Grown Ups, Monsters Inc.), Jim Carrey (Dumb & Dumber, Bruce Almighty), Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy, Cowboys & Aliens), and Alan Arkin (Get Smart, The Santa Clause 3). It is about two bullied kids named Burt (Carell) and Anton (Buscemi) who soon become the famous magicians known as Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton. After a while though, they become terrible for performing the same act for ten years. Their profit at the hotel they perform soon tanks because of street “magician” Steve Gray (Carrey) who does stunts that involve much pain and disgust. With not much profit coming in, the hotel manager kicks out Burt and Anton and they are left having to come up with an idea to get more money. When Anton thinks of an idea that turns out horribly because of Burt, they go their separate ways leaving Burt to entertain old people and sleep at a lousy apartment. Then suddenly when performing a magic trick at the old folks home, Burt meets his idol Rance Holloway (Arkin) who got him into magic in the first place. Rance teaches Burt new tricks and helps him improve with ones he already knows making Burt enjoy magic for amazement and not for money again. All Burt has to do now is get Anton back and win a contest of entertainment at the hotel he was fired from to get his job back with the help of his friend Jane (Wilde), who was a fan of Burt. I liked the movie for its story and how funny it was. One problem I had with this movie was how it disgusted me and sent chills down my spine to watch Steve Gray’s stunts which involved pepper spray in the eyes and cutting open one of his cheeks to pull out something. I would recommend this to anyone who is into comedy movies! FINAL SCORE: 81%= Juicy Popcorn
