“World War Z”

FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Last night I got to see a movie a wanted to see for a while called “World War Z” which stars Brad Pitt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Moneyball), Mireille Enos (The Killing, Gangster Squad), Daniella Kertesz (After Death), and Fana Mokoena (Hotel Rwanda, Safe House). This movie is based on the novel of the same name. It was just a normal day as usual for a former United Nations investigator, Gerry Lane (Pitt) and his family. Until the outbreak happened. While stuck in traffic in Philadelphia, it turns from normal to crazy as people start screaming and running while cops are all over sending Gerry to step out of the car and see what is happening and it isn’t good. Things start exploding and the whole city is in chaos. The family gets out of the car and run as far as they can seeing super zombies run and jump on everyone biting them. They are able to grab another vehicle and drive away from all the madness. They soon get into a helicopter because of a friend of Gerry’s named Thierry (Mokoena) that needs him safe to help him. They get on a ship full of army troopers and their families. Thierry’s commander called Gerry in to go on missions around the world with a doctor to find a cure since Gerry used to be the best in the field. Gerry wants to refuse, but if he does his family can’t stay on the ship. So the movie turns into a hunt to find a cure while having to survive from a horde of super zombies at every corner. I thought the movie was great with it being very suspenseful and making me get nervous at times in the movie. I thought the acting was great in the movie, the story was awesome, and the CGI of the zombies were spectacular. I did think it was a little uncommon for a family especially Gerry to survive through the zombie hordes, but I guess it’s what made it look cool with all the chasing scenes. I also thought that the movie was a little short wishing they could explain more. FINAL SCORE: 85%= Juicy Popcorn
