FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Tonight I got to see the fighting movie “Pacific Rim” which stars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, Children of Men), Diego Klattenhoff (After Earth, Mean Girls), Idris Elba (Prometheus, Thor), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom, The Sky Crawlers), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Horrible Bosses), Burn Gorman (The Dark Knight Rises, Layer Cake), Max Martini (Saving Private Ryan, The Unit), and Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Tangled). This movie is about monsters that rise up from another dimension in the water, known as a Kaiju, and start taking over the human race. In many efforts to stop these monsters, the humans eventually came up with an idea to create giant robots, named Jaegers, with many weapons on it to finally get rid of these monsters. Soon after all this fighting though, the future of the human race looks bleak so leader Stacker Pentecost (Elba) brings a washed up former pilot named Raleigh Becket (Hunnam) and a rookie that has no training named Mako (Kikuchi) together to control a robot to help three other teams to take down these monsters and send them back to the dimension from which they came for good. I liked the movie for the action scenes between robot and monster and the story premise that came with it. The downside to this movie for me was how it dragged in parts. I also didn’t like that in many scenes before they prep to go into the robots or even fight, it will get mushy making it seem like their trying to make a sob story or make the viewer feel sad. I didn’t feel sad that much in the movie so it didn’t make sense to put a lot of those scenes in there. Overall, the movie was ok and it would be good to watch it if you’re bored, but if you want a hit blockbuster for a fun Friday night, it may be better to try something else. FINAL SCORE: 73%= Juicy Popcorn
