“Despicable Me 2”

Despicable-Me-2-poster

FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Tonight I got to see the family animated sequel to “Despicable Me”, “Despicable Me 2” which has returning stars Steve Carell (The Office, Anchorman), Miranda Cosgrove (The School of Rock, Drake & Josh), Russell Brand (Hop, Bedtime Stories), Elsie Fisher (Despicable Me), Dana Gaier (Despicable Me), and new coming stars into the mix which include Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, How to Train Your Dragon), Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order, Demolition Man), Ken Jeong (The Hangover, Zookeeper), Steve Coogan (Tropic Thunder, The Other Guys), Moises Arias (Hannah Montana, Nacho Libre), and Kristen Schaal (Toy Story 3, Bob’s Burgers). This movie is about Gru (Carell) adjusting to the family life after he gives up being evil (except why they still call it Despicable Me, know one knows) and goes into the jelly making business. Soon after a secret arctic laboratory is stolen though, A.V.L. (anti villain league) request Gru personally to detect which person did it after overseeing suspects at a mall. He is assigned to a partner, Lucy (Wiig) who he is annoyed by at first, but then falls in love with her. Now it is up to them two to find out who is stealing all these top-secret material and stop them from doing any more wrong doings. I thought the movie was funny and the plot was good. Toward the end though, it felt a lot like the “Ice Age” movie series. I’m not going to say any spoilers, but people who have seen this movie should get what I’m saying if they’ve seen “Ice Age” also. Most likely they will be making two more of these because of the cash flow they get from it, but as long as the story is good and it is funny I am fine. It is a great sequel to a family animated movie and I recommend any family to see this movie! FINAL SCORE: 82%= Juicy Popcorn
