FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Tonight, I got to see a movie that I have been wanting to see for a while called “The Wolverine” which stars Hugh Jackman (The Prestige, Les Miserables), Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima (Karma: A Very Twisted Love Story), Hiroyuki Sanada (The Twilight Samurai, Sunshine), Hal Yamanouchi (Push, The Way Back), Brian Tee (Austin Powers in Goldmember, We Were Soldiers), and Svetlana Khodchenkova (Tinker Toy Soldier Spy). Wolverine (Jackman) is back in this action-packed movie which goes into solving a problem that he has had for a long, long time: immortality. He gets summoned from his spot in the mountains to head over to Japan to say a farewell to an old acquaintance, named Yashida (Yamanouchi), which he saved in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II. That is not the only thing that this man fetched him for though. He found a way to take away his immortality by passing it on to someone else, which in this case is himself so that he doesn’t die. Logan refuses though and everything goes downhill for him after that when a nemesis named Viper (Khodchenkova) puts poison and a parasite in him that strips away his power of regeneration. When Yashida dies, he sends a request of Logan to watch over his granddaughter, Mariko (Okamoto), and keep her from danger since he passed down his work to her. This becomes a big challenge of the whole movie for Logan though when there is constant attack on Mariko and he can’t fight like he normally does without his power of regeneration. I enjoyed this movie for its action, story, and special effects done for it. I did like how Logan lost his regeneration making the story more gripping to watch of him just trying to stay alive, which usually is not a problem for him. I didn’t like the scene though when he took out the parasite on his heart by himself, reaching into his chest to get it out making me squirm in my chair watching it. Overall, this is a pretty good X-Men/Wolverine movie and I recommend anyone to watch it! FINAL SCORE: 85%= Juicy Popcorn
