“Ender’s Game”

FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE REVIEW: Tonight I got to see the movie “Ender’s Game” which stars Asa Butterfield (Hugo, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas), Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, 3 Days to Kill), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, Zombieland), Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3, Shutter Island), Viola Davis (The Help, Prisoners), Aramis Knight (The Dark Knight Rises, Rendition), and Moises Arias (The Kings of Summer, Hannah Montana). Seventy years after an alien race, known as the Formics, attacks Earth and fail, humans band together to keep them from attacking again. Their weapon: children. An extremely intelligent kid named Ender Wiggin (Butterfield) gets accepted into battle school which is located in space in Earth’s orbit after being watched closely by Colonel Graff (Ford). There he is tested with a big group of other kids to see if he has what it takes to lead an army against the aliens to make sure they never come back to Earth again. While he is at the school though, he begins to discover that there is more to the aliens than meets the eye. I thought the movie was pretty good. I had low expectations of it since I didn’t feel up to watching it when the trailer first came out, so this movie ended up making a good impression on me. The movie did drag however, with me almost falling asleep close to the ending, but that was mainly because of how I have been busy all week. I did like the acting and the special effects put into this movie, especially the game that Ender played on his tablet in the school. I also thought it was cool seeing Moises Arias in another movie again after seeing him play a hilarious character in “The Kings of Summer” last month. So overall the movie was average. Not the best sci-fi movie that I’ve seen, but it’s not the worst either. If anyone wants to watch a cool sci-fi movie then I would recommend you see this one. FINAL SCORE: 80%= Juicy Popcorn
