BONUS MOVIE REVIEW: Yesterday, I got to see the movie “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” which stars Chris Pine (Star Trek (2009), Rise of the Guardians), Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride & Prejudice), Kevin Costner (Man of Steel, 3 Days to Kill), Kenneth Branagh (Frankenstein, Henry V), Lenn Kudrjawizki (Enemy at the Gates, The Counterfeiters), Peter Andersson (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Pusher), Alec Utgoff (The Tourist, The Seasoning House), and Seth Ayott (Star Trek Into Darkness). This movie centers around college student turned marine named Jack Ryan (Pine) who goes to Afghanistan which ends badly with a helicopter exploding, sending Jack to recover with his walking. At the rehabilitation center, a CIA agent named Harper (Costner) discovers Jack and decides to recruit him as an analyst to survey in stocks to see if there is any terrorist plots in finances that is going to happen. Ten years later, Jack finds anomalies in the accounts of a Russian man named Cherevin (Branagh). To figure out what is going on, Jack heads to Moscow to confront him and check their accounts. This then turns into a mission of the CIA when he finds out what evil plan this Russian is making. I thought the movie was okay. The story was average, the acting was good, and the action scenes were good, with what action scenes were there. I think what really didn’t sell me with this movie was the environment I was in when I was watching it. There were several distractions in the beginning with people talking and things having to be done. I thought the movie dragged in parts throughout and there wasn’t much action than what they promoted. Another problem I had was that the way the blu-ray player was set up where I was, the picture movement wasn’t how it should be. They basically made the movement look like one of a soap opera’s making the action scenes move by too fast. Other than those cons, the movie was a mediocre one and I wouldn’t right away recommend it, but when I watched it, I wasn’t in the best conditions so I could be wrong. FINAL SCORE: 67%= Burnt Popcorn
