“Dumb and Dumber To”

MOVIE THEATER REVIEW: Tonight I finally got to see the long-awaited “Dumb and Dumber To” which stars Jim Carrey (The Mask, Bruce Almighty), Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom, Pleasantville), Rob Riggle (The Other Guys, The Internship), Laurie Holden (The Mist, Fantastic Four), Rachel Melvin (Zombeavers, Days of Our Lives), Steve Tom (Seven Pounds, The Kid), Kathleen Turner (Marley & Me, Romancing the Stone), Brady Bluhm (Pooh’s Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin, Dumb and Dumber), Don Lake (Cars, Return to Me), and Bill Murray (Zombieland, Garfield). “Time has finally come.” Lloyd Christmas (Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Daniels) are back after a twenty year wait on another road trip adventure. When Harry needs a kidney transplant, he finds out that he has a daughter, sending him and Lloyd on a fun, hilarious journey to find his daughter to give him her kidney.

I was waiting for this day for so long. I have enjoyed the first movie and after finding out the initial beginning of ideas correlating with the Farrelly brothers two years ago, I was hooked to see it. I got a little skeptical though towards today by the reviews from the critics, which were negative overall. After watching this movie though, all of that changed. Not only was this movie good, but it lived up to the first one. The story was hilarious, making me laugh more than any movie has done to me for a long time. I thought that the trailer and movie spots would give away all the funny scenes, but the whole movie was filled with more jokes than what the trailer offered. It was also joyous to see Lloyd and Harry back again, still doing the same shenanigans they always do. The acting was fantastic. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are hilarious as well as their co-stars in this making it an enjoyable experience. The special effects are also great for what was put in (like the tornado scene) and it gave a more modern look to the film itself. There were two cons that I found in this movie. The first is that the archetype is pretty much the same as the first one. I’m not going to spoil anything, but I can say that they go on a road trip like the first one and there are several instances where they mirror the first movie. The second con would be the wiener jokes (yes, I said wiener). Even though I laughed at them, it still made the movie raunchier than the first one and there were a lot of them. Other than those two, this movie gave a great experience for me and I recommend anyone to watch this movie no matter what the critics say! You won’t be disappointed! FINAL SCORE: 88%= Juicy Popcorn
