MARCH MOVIE RANKINGS:
To think that two years ago, on this very day, that I had my first movie rankings…time is slipping away. I didn’t review many movies this month and even though I reviewed six, only five are being ranked. That is because one movie got a 94% or above and wasn’t made this year, making it not eligible to run for Movie of the Year. It does however get a spot in the Juicy Hall of Fame. So read on, and enjoy the 2015 March Movie Rankings!:
#5- “The Captive”
52%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Had it’s moments, great car chase scene, and acting is good once you get to the middle.
Cons: It took forever for this movie to gain any traction. The beginning was beyond slow and boring and the acting was shameful. Also the flow of this movie was horrible, making me not know when they are in the present or the past until the last couple of minutes. It did get better, but it still wasn’t that good overall.
#4- “Big Hero 6”
73%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Humorous, beautiful animation, great voice acting, and okay story.
Cons: Some parts don’t make any sense, it can get predictable to the point of laughter, and it felt short, meaning that more detail could have been put in to fully flesh out the characters and story.
#3- “The Theory of Everything”
74%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Interesting to watch, okay story, phenomenal acting, and the characters were well-developed, giving you a journey of a film.
Cons: Patches of the film are dull and can drag, there were some scenes that didn’t need to be included, and the dialogue can get boring.
#2- “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”
75%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Very funny, great acting, charming characters, awesome special effects and action scenes, and an alright story, showing a promising beginning.
Cons: Once it got to the middle, the story had a shift which wasn’t well-favored. The Nikki-Larry bonding didn’t really feel needed to the extent that they did, making me wish they focused more on history and dealing with the problem at hand like they always did. It also felt really short because of this because the storyline of the tablet was wrapped up quickly.
#1- “It’s Kind of a Funny Story”
88%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Great story, awesome cast and acting, funny, interesting, good flow, full of charisma, and fresh.
Cons: It lost its touch towards the end, displaying many clichés.
Juicy Hall of Fame Inductee– “The Sixth Sense”
94%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: An amazing, deep story with out-of-this-world acting. It also has great character development, is thrilling, and beyond interesting.
Cons: The main plot twist was predictable (to me anyway).
There’s March for you! “It’s Kind of a Funny Story” will go up against “The Truman Show”, “Rocky”, and the rest of the months in January 2016 to decide which movie will become 2015’s Movie of the Year!! Tune in later this week to read the first review for April.
