APRIL MOVIE RANKINGS

APRIL MOVIE RANKINGS:

It has been a very eventful month! Usually, April is the month where I review the least amount of movies (and I’m serious about that, check my history), but this year, I have reviewed the most movies this month than any months ever!!! 15 reviews in total including 4 Burnt Popcorn movies, 1 Juicy Hall of Famer, and 1 Movie of the Month. I felt that seeing as how this is a big deal, I have done something new and added a April Movie Rankings picture above, which I will now do for every monthly rankings. So read on this long list of movie rankings and enjoy!:

april 1

#14- “Into the Woods”
29%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Great costumes, good acting, great special effects, and great setting.
Cons: Extremely uninteresting, bad ending, horrible character development, and more singing than dialogue (in other words, too much singing).

#13- “Exodus: Gods and Kings”
39%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Great acting, awesome action scenes, nice Biblical setting, and great special effects.
Cons: It didn’t follow the source material (The Bible). If you want in full detail what they didn’t follow, read the review because it contains spoilers.

april 2

#12- “Rocky IV”
68%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Good fight, good acting, and well-written characters.
Cons: The story felt more had more of a political feel than a boxing feel, there were some things I wish they didn’t put in there (Apollo’s death), it is cheesy (in the bad way), and it felt like it lost its touch.

#11- “Bernie”
70%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Entertaining story, great acting, funny at times, different, and good characters.
Cons: I wish they filmed it differently than mainly interviews and some scenes were just weirdly shot (Bernie doing his awful thing for example).

april 3

#10- “There’s Something About Mary”
75%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Hilarious, good acting, and interesting story.
Cons: It can get really random in places (can make no sense), especially the ending, and it can get really disgusting.

#9- “Rocky V”
80%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Good story throughout, better than what the critics said, great acting, well-written characters, and can get emotional at times.
Cons: Predictable, the beginning doesn’t explain much of what happened, and the ending street fight can get old with weird camera shots.

april 4

#8- “Rocky III”
81%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Good sequel, good acting, great training montage (with Apollo), great characters, and good story.
Cons: The fight at the end wasn’t as memorable as the two movies before it and it had the same archetype as the previous films.

#7- “Rocky II”
83%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Great story, great acting, memorable ending, well-written characters (like the other movies), and entertaining.
Cons: It has the same archetype as the first movie and it takes a while to get to the climax of the story.

april 5

#6- “Bottle Rocket”
85%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Hilarious, fresh, great story, good characters, great acting, great directing style, and good setting.
Cons: It is hard to follow the plot once you get towards the middle (confusing) and some camera shots make no sense.

#5- “Little Miss Sunshine”
86%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Interesting, funny, great acting, and great story.
Cons: The dialogue can get dull sometimes and there are some things I wish didn’t happen.

april 6

#4- “Valkyrie”
87%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Thrilling, interesting story, great acting, perfect tones, and great action scenes.
Cons: Some of the dialogue can be fillers and it felt short.

#3- “Begin Again”
88%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Great story, great feel to it, great acting, catchy songs, can be funny, well-thought-out characters, and has a nice setting.
Cons: Some things didn’t make much sense and there was unnecessary cussing.

april 7

#2- “Cinderella” (2015)
89%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Charming, feel-good story, calming to watch, spectacular costumes and setting, great special effects, awesome acting, and traditional.
Cons: You can nit-pick quite a bit of things in this movie.

april 8

#1- “Rocky Balboa”
90%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Does the “Rocky” franchise justice, inspirational, great characters, great story, great acting, has a good sense of modernism, and it capitalizes on what made “Rocky” such a great movie.
Cons: It can get slow in dialogue and the Adrian-Rocky relationship was absent (it was cleared up well, but it was a big factor to the whole franchise).

april 9

Juicy Hall of Fame Inductee- “The Iron Giant”
97%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Original, amazing animation, funny, loveable characters, witty, heartwarming, terrific setting, and great story.
Cons: There are parts that don’t make sense or wouldn’t happen realistically (besides the fact that there is a huge alien robot).

That was a very long ranking, but we have claimed a victor! “Rocky Balboa” is April 2015’s Movie of the Month and will go up against “The Truman Show”, “Rocky”, “It’s Kind of a Funny Story”, and the remaining month winners in January 2016 to decide which movie will be crowned the third annual Movie of the Year. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the first movie review for May!
