April Movie Rankings

2021 APRIL MOVIE RANKINGS:

There was a debate whether or not to mark this post as written in April… but, I’m not going to try to pass off the obvious.

Yes, it’s May 23rd. There’s no film review, nor ranking for the previous month (until now). Content is coming, but I first had to get through many obligations that were piling up in my life; chief among them being my job on a Hulu series. Yep. I was working for Disney/Hulu these last few months, dwindling my free time to just about nothing.

Last week, we wrapped production, which means I have more time to do side projects/hobbies. Including this site. So, here are the rankings for last month. And here’s to a couple reviews getting crammed last second in May!

#2- “Adventureland”
70%= Burnt Popcorn
Pros: Fun setting, entertaining performances, and holds funny moments.
Cons: The main drama between Eisenberg and Stewart can be hit or miss, some characters could’ve had stronger arcs, and the overall picture isn’t something that special/unique.

#1- “Dead Poets Society”
94%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Wonderful performances, moving story, and powerful ending.
Cons: I would’ve loved more time given to some of the characters (like Knox and the consequences of his bold decision).

Juicy Hall of Fame Inductee“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”
96%= Juicy Popcorn
Pros: Original, unpredictable, beautiful theme, fantastic cinematography and effects, memorable moments, great direction, and amazing performances (one of Jim Carrey’s best).
Cons: It can melt your mind trying to figure it out (which isn’t much of a con… but it is worth mentioning).

And so “Dead Poets Society” takes the crown of April, and will join the race for Movie of the Year alongside “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Coherence” (2013), “The Elephant Man” (1980), and the other Movie of the Month nominees yet to come.
